Canyon Hills Veterinary Clinic's
Recommendations for Heartworm Prevention and Flea Control
Dogs should be on year-round heartworm, flea and intestinal parasite prevention. We recommend once-a-month Sentinel tablets. All dogs (over 5 months old) should be heartworm tested before beginning heartworm prevention medication.

To control fleas, we recommend Comfortis. Comfortis is the first FDA-approved, chewable, beef-flavored tablet that kills fleas and prevents flea infestations on dogs for a full month. We also recommend Vectra 3-D. Vectra 3-D is a topical product that kills fleas and ticks & repels mosquitos for at least one month.

Cats: We recommend either once-a-month topical applications of Frontline as a flea and tick preventative or Revolution, a once-a-month flea, heartworm, ear mite, hookworm and roundworm preventative.
