Respiratory Issues include chronic coughing, wheezing, or struggling to breathe. When symptoms don’t improve with basic care, our internal medicine team can help.

Common conditions include:

  • Chronic Bronchitis (Dogs) - long-term inflammation of the airways, often with no clear sign of infection

  • Feline Asthma - an allergic reaction that causes airway narrowing and inflammation

  • Pneumonia (bacterial or fungal) - infection in the lungs leading to cough, fever, lethargy, and difficulty breathing

  • Tracheal Collapse (small dogs) - the windpipe becomes weak and collapses, especially when excited or during exercise

  • Nasal Disease (Chronic Rhinitis, fungal infections, tumors) - ongoing inflammation, infection, or growths in your pet’s nasal passages

We diagnose these conditions in a variety of ways, often including X-rays, CT scan, or endoscopy.

Treatment generally includes medications like antibiotics, cough suppressants, and steroids, nebulizer and oxygen therapy.
